Alva Academy will be officially opened on 11th June by Scotland rugby star John Beattie.

The new school is part of a £60m PPP project providing three new secondary schools in Clackmannanshire in 2009.

The school has specialist science, art, music, ICT and drama classrooms. The indoor sports facilities include a games hall, gymnasium, dance studio, fitness suite and a state of the art PE classroom for high level coaching sessions while the outdoors sports facilities include an artificial football/hockey pitch. The existing grass pitch will be retained while new and improved athletic facilities including an 100m sprint track, throwing areas, a long jump pit as well as a 200m circular track will be created.

All these facilities are available for the community to book from 6pm -10pm, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm on Saturdays and noon - 5pm on Sundays.
